City Church 2023 and Beyond!

Family, there is a lot going on at City Church, and I wanted to make sure we did our best to communicate with you all about all of it! First, let me say that 2023 has been an incredible year for our church.  With only a few days left of this year, I want to say again what an honor it is to pastor this amazing community!

Please take some time to read over the below information, so you can see what is happening in 2023 and beyond at City Church:

  • CHRISTMAS EVE EVE

We are having our traditional candlelit service.  Invite your family and friends to join you at 5pm or 6:30pm on Saturday, December 23. Nursery and preschool environments will be open at the 6:30pm service only.  As a reminder, there will be no services on December 24. Enjoy your day as you spend time with your loved ones and celebrate the birth of Christ!

  • New Year’s Eve

This will be our last gathering of the year.  There will be only one service at 9:30am with a fun social immediately following service.  There will be light food available and a time to connect as a community! City Kids services will be available as normal that morning.

  • Finish Well, Start Strong

As we end this year, we want to lay a strong financial foundation for next year.  I am asking you to join me by praying about giving a special end-of-year gift. Please understand, no amount is too small to give because when we all do our part, we can accomplish so much! All end-of-year giving must be postmarked or in the church's possession by midnight December 31 to be eligible for the 2023 tax year.  Click here to make a special gift today: https://app.securegive.com/CityChurch/main/donate/category

  • A Call to Fast 2024

On January 3, at 6:30pm, we will be having a night of worship and prayer in the auditorium. On this night, there will be a call to fast, and we will take communion together. This will be a great night to consecrate our hearts before the Lord as the 21 days of prayer and fasting begins the next day.

  • Day 1 of 21 Days of Prayer

On January 4, we will join 26 other churches in Chattanooga and begin 21 days of prayer and fasting.  We have daily booklets available for this journey that you can pick up starting on December 31 during service or at the gathering on January 3.

  • Vision Sunday 2024

Sunday, January 7, at both the 9:30am and 11:15am services, we will be a sharing our theme for 2024.  I want to ask that you make plans to attend this special day. The leadership team at City Church feels strongly that God has spoken to us about the direction for next year, and we can’t wait to share more about it!

  • Launching first teaching series of ‘24

On Sunday, January 14, at both 9:30am and 11:15am, we will be starting our first series of 2024 called, “Deep Change,” a series based on the book written by Jason Isaacs. We asked him to come and preach the first week of the series, and he said yes!  We can’t wait to start this journey with everyone!

Church, as you can see, there is a lot going on, so we wanted to do our best to make sure you were informed. Like I said in my sermon this past Sunday—hold moments close, and let’s be people who share joy with others!

The best is still ahead!

Pastor Shannon
